The biggest bonus for making this vanilla frappe at home is that you can use good quality coffee as the base for this drink. Koffee Kult Medium Roasted coffee (brewed a little stronger than you would normally enjoy it), is perfect for this task. The medium roast has a very clean taste, it's bold but smooth, and never bitter. This makes it great for frappe, as you want to compliment the coffee flavor, not try to cover it up or overly sweeten it.
This homemade vanilla frappe is vegan, gluten free and low sugar. The coffee is paired with unsweetened coconut milk and coconut cream and blended until frothy. Good quality vanilla extract is added and stevia or coconut sugar is then added to taste. You might find yourself craving this homemade frappe more often than you think once you find out how easy this is to make!
This recipe does require some advanced preparation. The coffee has to be poured into ice cubes and frozen in order to make this frappe without having to add a ton of extra water (ice) to make it frothy and icy.
You can buy coconut cream in a can (at stores like Trader Joe's) or you can simply buy a can of full fat coconut milk and put it in the fridge. The coconut cream will solidify after refrigerating. You can then use the leftover coconut milk in the can as a healthy creamer the rest of the week in your coffee.
